Rebecca is the foreign rights assistant at JABberwocky Literary Agency. Born and raised in the Seattle area, she decided to stick around for college and attended the University of Washington, Seattle. She graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a minor in the Danish language.
She then stayed in Seattle for another year and a half, juggling three part time jobs: assistant editor at Coffeetown Press, editorial assistant at Epicenter Press, and bookseller at Barnes & Noble. In early 2016, she made the move to New York City where she joined the team at JABberwocky in July.
Prior to her JABberwocky life, Rebecca interned at Wales Literary Agency, becker&mayer! Book Producers, Epicenter Press, Coffeetown Press, and Folio Literary Management. She spent two years working with Barnes & Noble, mainly in the children’s department.
These days, Rebecca generally gravitates toward contemporary women’s fiction and YA, although she cut her literary teeth on Harry Potter and other fantasy. She will also read nearly any interpretation of a fairy tale. Some favorite books include: SERAPHINA, by Rachel Hartman, the Tortall books, by Tamora Pierce, NEVER LET ME GO, by Kazuo Ishiguro, BIG LITTLE LIES, by Lianne Moriarty, UGLIES, by Scott Westerfeld, ELLA ENCHANTED, by Gail Carson Levine, SPINDLE’S END, by Robin McKinley, THE GIRL WHO CIRCUMNAVIGATED FAIRYLAND IN A SHIP OF HER OWN MAKING, by Catherynne M. Valente, EVERYTHING I NEVER TOLD YOU, by Celeste Ng, FIRE AND HEMLOCK, by Diana Wynne Jones, THE MORNING GIFT, by Eva Ibbotson.
