Come work as an intern for JABberwocky Literary Agency!
JABberwocky Literary Agency, a home-based Queens literary agency with a strong focus in fantasy and science fiction, seeks an intern for the spring semester to assist two literary agents.
While no experience is required, the successful candidate must exhibit a knowledge of publishing and familiarity with the genre fiction marketplace. The responsibilities for the position are broad, and any given day might quickly come to include:
* Reading and evaluating queries and manuscripts
* Editorial correspondence with authors
* Routine office work (filing, phones, email, mailings)
* Domestic, foreign, and subsidiary rights marketing
* Database development
You'll need to be organized, know your way around a computer (Mac experience a plus, HTML knowledge doubly so), show editorial acumen, and relate well with authors and other publishing professionals.
Though JABberwocky internships are currently unpaid, we will work with graduate and undergraduate students to ensure they receive course credit whenever possible. At the successful conclusion of an internship, we will work with our extensive network of publishing contacts to try to help place the intern with a position in the industry, if this is something still desired.
