It’s time to issue a warm JABberwocky welcome to Jason Denzel!

Jason must be a Mystic (hence the ambiguity in the post’s title), because he’s pulled off something special—his debut novel, which was acquired by Tor Books on an exclusive submission, will come out this fall! The road to acquisition to publication can often take a year or more.

Mystic tells the story of working-class Pomella, who is invited to compete for a position as the apprentice to the local Mystic, which flies in the face of local tradition—only nobility have historically been allowed. If she fails, she becomes an untouchable, outcast from the rest of society for the rest of her life. Pomella has a natural gift, but when she starts lying to get ahead, it threatens to blow up in her face.
