We’re two weeks into the new year, but the Best-of-2013 lists haven’t stopped! Our authors have earned even more recognition:

Only the Best Science Fiction & Fantasy featured more than one of our authors in their “Top Ten New Releases of 2013,” with Myke Cole‘s SHADOW OPS: FORTRESS FRONTIER at #5 and Peter V. Brett‘s DAYLIGHT WAR at #3. Brandon Sanderson‘s THE RITHMATIST also earned an honorable mention! The Ranting Dragon also picked Myke Cole’s FORTRESS FRONTIER as #4 on the list of “Editor’s Gems of 2013,” calling it “one of the most fantastically crafted contemporary fantasy novels I’ve ever read.”

Marie Brennan‘s A NATURAL HISTORY OF DRAGONS was selected by Mary Robinette Kowal, author of Shades of Milk and Honey and Glamour in Glass, as her favorite book of the year in SF Signal’s “MIND MELD: Our Favorite SF/F/H Consumed in 2013.” Kowal says it “felt like it was written specifically for me. It’s got a swashbuckling adventure, a young lady of quality as the main character, with dresses and tea and dragons.”
