charlaine-imageNot only has NBC picked up Charlaine Harris’s Midnight, Texas series, they will produce a new series called Redliners, based on Harris’s short story “Small Kingdoms.” The story, one of Harris’s bestselling short stories, was originally published in the November 2013 issue of Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, and then was included in The Best American Mystery Stories 2014. NBC recently ordered the Redliners pilot.

Redliners mixes humor, romance, and espionage in the tone of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Shaun Cassidy, Kelly Sue DeConnick, and David Janollari will executive produce through Universal TV and studio-based David Janollari Entertainment. Hannah Ware has been cast to star as Anne DeWitt.

Charlaine Harris’s books inspired the HBO hit True Blood and Midnight, Texas is scheduled for a midseason launch. Her Aurora Teagarden series is being adapted to Hallmark TV movies starring Candace Cameron Bure; four have been released so far.
