Praise for Aliette de Bodard’s IN THE VANISHERS’ PALACE

Today saw the publication of a new book from Aliette de Bodard, author of the Dominion of the Fallen series and winner of two Nebula Awards, a Locus Award, a European Science Fiction Society award, and three BSFA (British Science Fiction Association) Awards. A never before published novella, In the Vanisher’s Palace is a dark Beauty and the Beast retelling with two women and the Beast is a dragon.

The ebook is available for purchase at: Amazon | B&N | Kobo | iTunes | Google

And the paperback edition is available at Amazon.

The book has already garnered some tremendous praise from writers, artists, and critics, including:

“Gorgeously atmospheric queer fantasy (…) Like Jane Eyre if Rochester was a woman plus a dragon.”

–Zen Cho, author of The Terracotta Bride and Sorcerer to the Crown

“Another stellar offering by Bodard. Her signature intensity is on display in this tale of people (and dragons) struggling to survive in the ruins of an alien conquest. Emotionally complex relationships interweave with richly drawn and deftly nuanced world-building.”

–Kate Elliott, Author of the Court of Fives series

Starred Reviews for I AM STILL ALIVE!

The first trade reviews for Kate Alice Marshall‘s debut YA novel I AM STILL ALIVE are in, and we’re seeing stars!

In its starred review, Kirkus called the book “A taut, gripping page-turner with a strong female hero to root for.”

Booklist was more verbose in its starred review, saying: “Marshall’s evocative, visceral language cultivates a vivid sense of the sheer physicality of Jess’ survival, and she breathes vibrant life not only into Jess’ character but also that of her irascible, loyal dog, Bo. With masterful pacing, rich characterization, a dynamic voice, and a thrilling blend of wilderness survival and revenge, this is an engrossing read from a writer to watch.”

We’re thrilled Kate’s story of survival and revenge is starting out with such a bang!

Brandon Sanderson’s DARK ONE

Brandon SandersonDeadline recently reported on DARK ONE, a new multimedia project from Brandon Sanderson! Vault Comics will publish the two-volume graphic novel series, co-written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly (Joyride, Hacktivist). Publishers Weekly reports that the first volume will be released in the Spring of 2019. FremantleMedia North American and Random House Studio will produce the TV series, and a podcast of the same title will further explore the world of DARK ONE.

The project is described as “a dramatic fantasy adventure spotlighting a young man who sees visions of strange and fantastical worlds, which he is told are just hallucinations. But this dark and deadly fantasy world that keeps coming to him is actually a real vision of another world – one where he has been prophesied to become a tyrant and destroy this land of interesting creatures, sporadic electrical currents and a darkening landscape.”

Sanderson says, “I’m used to painting a picture in words. DARK ONE came to life when I freed myself to think of it as a project for actual visual media, with the setting, characters and outline all coming together.”

Sanderson is a multiple #1 New York Times bestseller and a Hugo Award winner, selling over 12 million copies of his works worldwide. The second volume of White Sand, Sanderson’s first graphic novel series, published in February 2018, with volume three under contract to Dynamite Entertainment.
