Mexican Gothic wins 2021 Aurora Award for Best Novel

10/18/2021

It’s official — Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s MEXICAN GOTHIC has won yet another award! The 2021 Aurora Awards have presented Silvia with the Best Novel accolade.

The awards were announced during a livestream ceremony on October 16th organized by Ottawa’s Can*Con convention. In addition to winning for Best Novel, Silvia gave the keynote speech at the start of the ceremony, where she addressed the changing landscape in speculative fiction due to the pandemic and the necessity in giving authors of color the platforms they deserve.

Aurora Awards are given out for Canadian literary and fan works that members of the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association (CSFFA) feel are exceptional throughout the previous year. MEXICAN GOTHIC, it’s clear, fits the bill.

Congratulations once again Silvia!
