Brittany Pearson

Brittany Pearson is an Asian-American author and illustrator. At 6 years old she created her first picture book series about a bumblebee princess named Baby Hunny. Drawn on printer paper and held together by staples, the series now lives on her daughter’s bookshelf. Brittany spent her teens refining her creative writing, while experimenting with various traditional mediums like watercolor, pen and ink, and Sumi-E.

She went on to study film at USC and received her MFA from the Academy of Art University. After a brief stint as a journalist and many years as an editorial photographer, it felt natural for Brittany to combine her love of both words and visuals with picture books. Her art combines rich, layered textures with soft harmonious palettes to create pieces full of whimsy and joy. Although her illustrations today are digital, they replicate the traditional mediums she grew up working with.

Brittany lives in the Bay Area with her husband and daughter, who inspire her art and writing everyday. She loves mochi ice cream and summer, spontaneous dance parties, and posting too many photos of the flowers in her garden.
