JABberwocky Literary Agency is pleased to announce that we have recently welcomed a new client, Rio Lombana.

Rio Lombana writes from Seattle, where they like to hike in the dry season and train martial arts while it rains. Their short fiction is published in Escape Pod, Adventitious, PseudoPod, Small Wonders, and elsewhere. They’re a Viable Paradise ’25 alum and NYC Midnight contest winner. 

Rio is represented by Valentina Sainato, who is thrilled to work on Rio’s fantasy debut, THE BLESSÈD, EVER-CHANGING MAP! The novel follows Remi, a nun in the monastery devoted to the Mapmaker, the god of an ever-changing magical world. Having sworn a vow of silence, Remi wants nothing more than to be left alone and to explore the cracks she sees forming in the world. But when an invisible wall only she can feel begins shepherding her away from the life she built, her peers are convinced it is a sign from the Mapmaker himself. Even worse, Remi is accompanied by Thak, a guest of the monastery who, despite his love for chatter, avoids any questions about his prior life. As they navigate a shifting landscape and its liminal spaces, Remi and Thak realize that the Mapmaker’s world is splitting at the seams—and another one lurks on the other side.
