Picture Book

Neville’s Great Escape
"Fans of Avery’s earlier book will be delighted to see Neville back and more resolute than ever, his tenacity a model for times when it’s imperative to persist. Playful storytelling and art blend for a paean to the power of determination."

Kirkus

"This is a very funny picture book with a (large) touch of the absurd... Neville’s Great Escape is a funny, insightful book with great illustrations. I especially like the furniture."

Good Reading Magazine

"As a companion book to super popular Frank’s Red Hat, this one is a cracker... Kiddos will have loads of fun with this one, just as they have with Frank."

Just So Stories

Frank’s Red Hat
"All little ones should hear―and see―this message of discovering the right audience for one’s work rather than changing one’s output to please others. . . . A worthwhile, heartwarming, and beautifully conveyed lesson to do what makes you happiest."

Kirkus, Starred Review!

"This humorous book is a joy to read...The art seems to be a tip of the hat to Jon Klassen’s enigmatic work in the humor, the controlled palette, and the incredible story line. Teachers and kids will love this whole package."

School Library Journal, Starred Review!

"[A] hilarious tale of creativity. . . . Frank's Red Hat should serve as both a boisterous read-aloud and an excellent choice to linger with after story time. . . . Frank's Red Hat is the jaunty, sly, extremely amusing tale of a penguin who creates a colorful hat, only to find his fellow penguins are too nervous to appreciate it."

Shelf Awareness, Starred Review!

"[A]n amusing, low-key tale of invention and perseverance."

Wall Street Journal

The story pace is perfect, and the illustrations delightfully extend the text, with expertly crafted details like the eyes of the walrus, which are so expressive...it is the characters and the way the illustrations enhance their interactions that make this story shine."

The Children's Book Council of Australia

"This slyly humorous look at fitting in and accepting the new will entertain kids and their adults."

Youth Services Book Review

"There is a wealth of material to laud in Frank's Red Hat - I heartily encourage you to read it...The words and illustrations are woven together seamlessly to create a rich picture book that cries out to be read aloud. Again and again."

Glass of Wine, Glass of Milk

"Written by a Perth local, Frank’s Red Hat is a wonderful book that is not only engaging at many levels, it is also memorable and fun."
