A huge congratulations goes out to JABberwocky client, Samantha Mills — THE WINGS UPON HER BACK is a World Fantasy Award Finalist for Best Novel!
Locus Magazine announced the World Fantasy Awards ballot for works published in 2024 yesterday, which feature five finalists for Best Novel. The awards will be presented during the 2025 World Fantasy Convention, scheduled for October 30 – November 2, 2025 in Brighton, UK.
This isn’t the first time THE WINGS UPON HER BACK has been up for an award — the novel won the Compton Crook Award earlier this year! It has received high critical praise, including four starred reviews and blurbs from the likes of the Washington Post and Esquire. Booklist wrote of the book: “THE WINGS UPON HER BACK is a triumphant debut novel. The complex narrative examines the intricacies of blind devotion, self-image, and the hidden motivations behind martial control.”
Congratulations, Sam!
