THE FINAL GIRL SUPPORT GROUP Film To Be Developed By Paramount

Another Grady Hendrix book is coming to the silver screen!

Paramount Pictures will be developing THE FINAL GIRL SUPPORT GROUP as a feature film, with director Christopher Landon (Freaky, Paranormal Activity series) at its helm. This isn’t the first time Landon has worked with a Grady Hendrix book in the film space; he also produced MY BEST FRIEND’S EXORCISM, which released from Amazon Studios in 2022.

Longtime FINAL GIRL fans may remember that the book was initially set to be adapted for television by HBO Max, with Andy and Barbara Muschietti (It) set to produce. While the adaptation may have changed studios, the Muschiettis are still attached and producing under their Double Dream label. Paramount is also developing a BADASSTRONAUTS film, announced late last year!

Published in July 2021 from Berkley, THE FINAL GIRL SUPPORT GROUP is a story about what it means to survive, following a group of Final Girls years after they survived their various massacres, only for another to unfold among them in the one place they thought was safe: group therapy. It is both an homage to and a subversion of iconic slasher films.

On publication, the book hit #11 on the New York Times bestseller list as well as #4 on the LA Times bestseller list, where it remained for the next three weeks. The New York Times also featured the book earlier this year, writing “What if the final girls from all the slasher franchises pulled up some folding chairs, sat in a circle and swapped stories about their collective trauma? That’s the premise of this novel but, this being a Hendrix joyride, that’s just the launchpad for all the blood and gore the genre promises, and for his signature hilarity and tenderness.”

We can’t wait to see THE FINAL GIRL SUPPORT GROUP in all its gory glory — congratulations, Grady!
