We’ve had a lot of Hollywood-related excitement the last couple weeks, and now have big news to report: Both Brandon Sanderson and Daniel José Older have new option deals!

Brandon Sanderson’s #1 NYT bestselling Reckoners series (STEELHEART, FIREFIGHT, and the forthcoming CALAMITY) has been picked up by Twentieth Century Fox, for Shawn Levy’s Fox-based 21 Laps to produce. Levy has produced and directed dozens of films, including Real Steel, This Is Where I Leave You, and the Night at the Museum series. We think David and the Reckoners are in great hands!

Daniel José Older’s Bone Street Rumba series, which just launched January 6th with HALF-RESURRECTION BLUES, was optioned by Tony award-winning actress Anika Noni Rose for her Roaring Virgin Productions. Rose voiced Disney’s first African American princess, Princess Tiana, in The Princess and the Frog, and starred in the hit film Dreamgirls. She received a Tony Award for her role in Caroline or Change and was recently nominated for another Tony for her standout performance in A Raisin in the Sun, alongside Denzel Washington.

Regarding the announcement, Older said, “I’ve been a fan of Anika Noni Rose’s brilliant work on stage and screen for years. She has a deep understanding of narrative, craft, and truthtelling in general and the Bone Street Rumba series in particular, and I’m beyond thrilled to see this project come together.”

These are huge developments, and we couldn’t be happier for Brandon and Daniel!
