J. Myles Hesse

J. Myles Hesse writes LGBT+ romantic comedies that delve into the nuances of community. As someone who stutters, Myles is passionate about amplifying the voices of people with disabilities and bringing historically silenced perspectives to the forefront.

Myles is also a PhD candidate studying representations of dysfluency in 19th-century literature. He holds a Master’s in theater and performance studies. A seasoned theater artist, Myles works as a director, dramaturg, and playwright. His plays have been produced by the A. E. Hotchner Playwriting Festival, the Tennessee Williams Festival St. Louis New Playwright Initiative, Triangle Rainbow Theater, and various universities. Outside of creative writing, he applies his storytelling skills to grant writing for a nonprofit theater, weaving the story of why the arts deserve more funding.

Myles lives in Missouri with his husband where they probably spend too much time watching The Real Housewives.
