Robert Douglas Friedman

Robert Douglas Friedman has worked, written, and edited for a wide variety of publications. In addition to a lengthy resume, he is the editor and arranger of Joyce Carol Oates’s Substack, ‘A Writer’s Journal.’

He freelanced for newspapers that included The Bergen Record, the Elizabeth Daily Journal, and the Cranford Chronicle; wrote and edited for magazines that included Business WeekAdweekPhoto District NewsMedical and Surgical News, Critical Care Nurse, and Narrative magazine; served as the Domestic Desk Editor for McGraw-Hill World News, an international newsgathering network; spent a year with the Associated Press; and currently runs his own digital content development company called Raising the Bar Media. Along the way, Robert published short stories, creative non-fiction, and humor pieces in NarrativeStory Quarterly, the Satirist, and many other publications. He collaborated with Barry N. Malzberg on three short stories that were published in Asimov’sAnalog, and F&SF. He’s written blog posts and other content for a private detective agency, multiple criminal defense law firms, and the New York City Law Department.
