Sonya Afnan is a Chaldean-American writer and illustrator who creates picture books and middle grade stories inspired by her cultural roots and everyday life. She’s been drawing ever since she picked up a stick and sketched in the sand as a kid in her small village (no paper, just imagination) and she never looked back. Sonya lives in Michigan with her husband and two kids, works in medical billing by day, and spends her spare time hiking and camping across the state. Every year, her family makes it a tradition to discover a new trail, explore Michigan’s beautiful scenery and meet new faces along the way.
