More JABberwocky Travel: Lisa Rodgers At Cascade Writers Workshop

7/15/2014

While Sam is living it up at NAFiC in Detroit, Lisa Rodgers (@_LisaRodgers) will be attending Cascade Writers Workshop in Kent, WA! That’s just south of Seattle, for those not familiar with the Pacific Northwest. Cascade Writers is a weekend-long workshop that brings together writers from a variety of genres and in various stages of their writing careers.

Things begin Thursday evening with a social mixer and readings. (Cross your fingers for me that I’ll successfully vanquish the Jetlag Beast and will be able to stay for all of the wonderful reading selections!)

Friday will feature 2 critique sessions with my workshop participants. I’ll also be joining fellow agent Bree Ogden for the What an Agent Wants panel that evening, where we’ll discuss how to track down the right agent for your work, and the dos and don’ts of query letters and short pitches.

As with Friday, Saturday will feature more critique sessions! Additionally, my afternoon is dedicated to the Pitch Session.

No day would be complete without a critique session, so it’s fortunate that Sunday begins with one! I’ll then have my one-on-one discussions with my workshop participants. Topics can range from the manuscript we workshopped to more nuts-and-bolts/the business writing, depending on what each writer would like to discuss.

Between the critique and pitch sessions, Cascade Writers has arranged a slew of educational panels for its participants. Topics range from indie authorship, to marketing, to life after being published, as well as several panels on the craft of writing.

While Cascade Writers Workshop isn’t open to the public, keep an eye out for when registration opens for 2015!
