Two long-awaited sequels hit the shelves today: Brandon Sanderson’s WORDS OF RADIANCE and Marie Brennan’s TROPIC OF SERPENTS.
Both of these titles were listed on several most-anticipated lists at the end of 2013 and, more recently, featured on Kirkus’ “Best Bets for Speculative Fiction” for March 2014.
In addition, both authors are embarking on book tours for their new releases, with Brandon’s kicking off today in Provo, Utah. Marie will depart on her eight city tour with Mary Robinette Kowal in early May, which will include appearances by both authors in period dress.
TROPIC OF SERPENTS has already received a starred review from Kirkus, which calls the book as “uncompromisingly honest and forthright as the first, narrated in Brennan’s usual crisp, vivid style, with a heroine at once admirable, formidable and captivating.”
Library Journal said WORDS OF RADIANCE “exceeds expectations” and “is a must-read for all fantasy fans.” Keep your eye on the New York Times list, as we’re sure Brandon’s latest release is going straight to the top!
We also have good news to share about Brandon’s Young Adult novels. First, STEELHEART has been nominated for the Georgia Peach Award for Young Readers. The nominees for this award are selected by school and public librarians around the country, with young adults reading and rating the books to select the winners. Second, THE RITHMATIST, has been named a finalist for the Audio Publishers Association’s 2014 Audie Award, with the winners to be announced at a gala this May.
