It’s book awards season, and we’re so excited to see multiple JABberwocky clients nominated across the board!
Samantha Mills is nominated for the Hugo Awards for Best Short Story for her work, “10 Visions of the Future; or, Self-Care for the End of Days”, originally published in Uncanny Magazine. In a nice coincidence, the day the Hugo longlist was announced was the same day that her critically acclaimed collection, RABBIT TEST AND OTHER STORIES, published — a collection that features the very same nominated story!
Additionally, Neil Clarke and Michael Damian Thomas are both on the Hugo shortlist for Best Editor, Short Form for their editorship of Clarkesworld and Uncanny Magazine! Uncanny is also nominated for Best Semiprozine. Both Uncanny and Clarkesworld also published many of the short fiction finalists across the Hugos. The Hugo Awards will be presented at LAcon V in Anaheim, CA in August.
The Aurora Awards celebrate sci-fi, fantasy, and horror created by Canadian authors. This year’s shortlist saw two of our clients shortlisted for Best Novel! Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s THE BEWITCHING and Tanya Huff’s DIRECT DESCENDANT are among the 2025 finalists for Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror. The Aurora Awards are nominated by members of the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association and will be hosted in August.
THE BEWITCHING is also nominated for the Locus Award for Best Horror Novel, both Clarkesworld and Uncanny Magazine are nominated for Best Magazine, and Neil Clarke is a finalist for Best Editor! As with the Hugos, both Clarkesworld and Uncanny have published many of the Locus Award short fiction finalists. The Locus Awards are voted each year by readers in an open public ballot, and will be announced at the end of May in Berkeley, CA in tandem with the Bay Area Book Festival.
We’re also thrilled to see THE BI BOOK by A.J. Irving shortlisted for the LAMBDA Literary Award in the LGBTQ+ Children’s Books category! The Lammy Awards celebrate excellence across multiple genres of LGBTQ+ literature; the finalists are selected by a panel of judges. The ceremony will take place in mid-June in New York City.
Congratulations Samantha, Neil, Michael, Silvia, Tanya, and A.J.! We’re keeping our fingers crossed for all of you!
