Our 2023 Hugo Awards Finalists

7/6/2023

We’re thrilled to share our latest good news on the awards front: a number of JABberwocky authors and editors are finalists for the 2023 Hugo Awards! The Hugo finalists were announced today in advance of this fall’s awards, which will be presented at Worldcon 81 in Chengdu, China.

Our clients’ work spans five different categories:

Best Novel:
The Daughter of Doctor Moreau, Silvia Moreno-Garcia (Del Rey; Jo Fletcher)
Moreau is the latest New York Times bestseller from Moreno-Garcia. Her latest novel, Silver Nitrate, was called a “knockout” in its starred review from Publishers Weekly. It hits stores July 18.

Best Short Story:
“Rabbit Test,” Samantha Mills (Uncanny Magazine 11-12/22)
“Rabbit Test” has been a runaway success this awards season, winning both the Locus and Nebula Awards for Best Short Story earlier this year.

Best Series:
Rivers of London, Ben Aaronovitch (Orion; JABberwocky)
Aaronovitch’s urban fantasy series is a #1 Sunday Times bestseller in the UK. Its first three books and the short story collection Tales from the Folly are available as ebooks from JABberwocky in the US.

Best Editor, Short Form:
Neil Clarke (Clarkesworld)
Clarke won the Best Editor, Short Form Award in 2022. Since its launch in 2006, Clarkesworld has been honored with Hugo, World Fantasy, and British Fantasy Awards.

Best Semiprozine:
Uncanny Magazine (Lynne M. Thomas & Michael Damian Thomas)
Uncanny won the Best Semiprozine Award every year from 2016-2020. Lynne and Michael were also awarded with the Hugo for Best Editor, Short Form in 2018.

This year’s Worldcon takes place October 18-22, which gives you plenty of time to catch up with the nominated works you may have missed. A hearty congratulations goes out to our clients. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!
