Our 2024 Dragon Award Finalists!

8/7/2024

With DragonCon coming up at the end of the month the finalists for the 2024 Dragon Awards were announced yesterday! We’re so excited to see some of our own authors on there.

Raking in yet another award nomination is Bethany Jacobs’s THESE BURNING STARS, up for Best Science Fiction Novel. This debut is the first instalment of a twisty space opera trilogy following a three women on a dangerous cat-and-mouse quest for revenge across an empire that spans star systems, built on the bones of a genocide. THESE BURNING STARS was the 2024 winner of the the Philip K. Dick award, and made the Kirkus “Best Science Fiction and Fantasy of 2023” list.

ALL THE DEAD SHALL WEEP by Charlaine Harris is a finalist for Best Alternate History Novel. This book is the fifth in the Gunnie Rose series, and is set in a fractured United States, in the southwestern country now known as Texoma—a world where magic is acknowledged, but mistrusted. Charlaine is the #1 New York Times bestelling author of the Sookie Stackhouse series, the inspiration for HBO’s True Blood. Book 3 of the Gunnie Rose series, The Russian Cage, was also nominated for a 2021 Dragon Award in the same category.

Finally, Brandon Sanderson’s YUMI AND THE NIGHTMARE PAINTER is on the list of finalists for the Best Illustrative Cover. Aliya Chen, who drew this stunning cover, also painted the beautiful interior art and endpapers of the book.

Congratulations to all the finalists! The Dragon Awards will be presented at Dragon Con, held from August 29 to September 2 in Atlanta, Georgia.
